Summer rainfall...in a plastic cup!

Ahhhhhh! I love a good summer rain! Where you can leave the windows open and smell the freshness breezing in! Emma was delighted as well....as you'll be able to tell from the picture! She's so eclectic! We love her and her sweet little "creative" moments. The plastic wal-mart bags are so her hands won't get wet! And she did catch some rain in her cup- and it did make her day...wouldn't it be nice if life could stay that simple?!

A Very Merry Unbirthday!!!

Wow! What a magical time we had. I wouldn't have gone any where else in the world! We had an absolute blast. We played very hard so it wasn't rest and relaxation, but I think it was better for us to pretend to be kids again! I've never had so many people wish me Happy Birthday in my entire life. It was fun to be a little, or a lot, bold and wear that Birthday hat. I think I'll make my kids wear it to school on their birthdays or something...I just can't say thank you enough to my sweet sister Jamie. It wouldn't have been nearly as wonderful without knowing my kids were in good hands.

The Goblet of Fire

For those of you who have read Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire this is where that idea comes from, kind of. My kids are already bored and it's only the fourth day of summer...so here is the idea I came up with yesterday and so far it's been a hit! I put a bunch of things to do on little pieces of paper and put them in a "goblet" on the counter. If they are really bored or I see them just mope-ing around I tell them to go pick a card out of the goblet of fire. It's a binding contract and they have to do whatever it says. Some of the slips are chores, they get paid .25 a
chore, and it doesn't count as their "chore" for the day, some are read a book, play a game, or some are fun things to do-like bake cookies with Mom- and then I'm bound to stop what I'm doing and do it too (I didn't put too many in there like that!) James already drew out Sweep the garage this morning- and he did it without complaint. Emma drew out clean a kitchen cupboard and was very excited! But then they drew out build a fort so I had to keep my end of the deal. So it's a gamble they have to take or if they don't want to risk getting a chore to do they have to find something to do on their own...we'll see how cool it is in a few weeks- or days!!!

more pictures that didn't post...

the pictures didn't post...

Refer to below to see what the pictures are about...the ones of Kyle walking wouldn't upload at all...sorry

Summer summer summer time!

Yeah!!! I get James home for an entire three months!!! I hope it's as delightful as I'm imagining it to be. It's only 10:00am on Monday morning and he's told me he's bored twice- then quicly found something to do so he doesn't have to do chores:)

Our summer celebration cake! We made it last year too- I think it'll be a tradition!

James had quite the cheering section at his last little league game. Biggest compliment he got this year was his last at bat...one of the Dad's yelled, "Go Ichiro!" He is quite the little slugger. It's been a thrill to watch him.

Kyle learning how to walk! He went from not wanting to take a step to running around trying to keep up with all the kids!
